All About Morg

Self-promotion is hard to pull off subtly (cough, cough). That’s why I help promote brands instead! At Hirshorn-Zuckerman Design Group, I work on a branded food publication called Sous-Vide magazine and write social media copy for a Fortune 500 hotel brand. In this fast-paced agency environment, I've learned that branded content should compete stride for stride with journalistic storytelling.

I worked previously as a content and graphic design consultant for the U.S. Mint, but executing creative projects for a client is not what I learned in school. At the University of Maryland's Philip Merrill College of Journalism, I discovered many ways to tell a story. I produced quality photojournalism, data journalism, and feature journalism as an undergraduate at Merrill, and I thrived in several breaking-news environments--including the award-winning investigations desk at USA Today, where I was an intern. My research and reporting on “Trust Fund Raidersrevealed instances of fraud in nursing homes across the country.

At Capital News Service, I was the first intern to create music-focused data journalism with my project “Sticking Around: an examination of Foo Fighters setlists over 20 years.” After I graduated in 2015, I became the arts coordinator for Takoma Park, Maryland’s city government. I ran the “We Are Takoma” event series, assisted with public art installations, co-produced and hosted a Takoma Park City TV series called “Backstage Takoma," and supported the city’s graphic design needs.
